UPDATE: Suspect identified in Port Hope armed robbery

Port Hope Police say they arrested and charged 20-year-old Royon Henry-McLean of Scarborough with several weapons and drug related charges following an armed robbery in Port Hope.

Police say them male entered the store and brandished a firearm while demanding cash from the cash-register and safe, along with pharmaceutical narcotics.

Police say they were quickly dispatched to the pharmacy and when they arrived the male fled in a vehicle. The vehicle entered a nearby ditch becoming stuck, when a brief foot pursuit ensued. Police say they pursued the suspect to a nearby cemetery where they surrounded the suspect and arrested him at gunpoint.

The male was also in possession of a large knife during the incident. No injuries were reported to the employee or witnesses.
