ARREST MADE AND DRUGS SEIZED IN RELATION TO MISCHIEF INVESTIGATION: QUINTE WEST OPP

The Quinte West Detachment’s Community Street Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has made an arrest and seized drugs in relation to a mischief investigation.

On October 16, 2022, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a report of damage to a motor vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a residence. Police observed residential surveillance footage and observed a male throw a large rock at the direction of the residence, striking the victims vehicle. The perpetrator was quickly identified as he was known to police. As a result of the investigation, police were seeking the individual for arrest.

On October 18, 2022, the Quinte West Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) entered into an investigation to locate and arrest the accused. At approximately 6:00 p.m., CSCU officers observed the male traveling in a vehicle on King Street. A traffic stop was conducted, and the accused was arrested. Following a search, a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine, blue fentanyl, oxycodone, drug paraphernalia and two large knives were seized. 

Gavin GALBRAITH, 25 years old from Quinte West has been charged with the following offences:

  • Mischief under $5000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order – ten counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – fentanyl.
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine.
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – oxycodone.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on October 19, 2022.
