No injuries were reported after a pick-up truck caught fire on County Road 10 in the Municipality of Port Hope, Saturday afternoon.
It was just after 4:00 p.m., when crews from Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services stations 2 and 3 responded to County Road 10, just north of the 5th Line for a reported fire. A pick-up truck was traveling northbound when it caught fire as a result of an unknown mechanical issue.
The driver was able to escape without injury.
Due to the proximity of the truck to a nearby field, the fire began to spread, igniting the nearby dry vegetation. Crews quickly doused the flames and brought the fire under control.
County Road 10 was closed in both directions for just under an hour between the 5th and 7th lines.
