Incident at Peterborough motel leads to charges: OPP

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a dispute at approximately 4:30pm yesterday afternoon. The complainant reported that they were threatened with a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) during an argument with other tenants residing at a motel located on Highway 7. The CEW was located and seized by officers. No injuries were reported at the time of the incident.

Eric MCINNIS (age 38) of Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, was arrested and charged with:

• Uttering threats-cause death or bodily harm

• Assault with a weapon

• Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on December 14, 2022.

Elaine STE MARIE (age 58) of Otonabee-South-Monaghan Township, was arrested and charged with:

• Uttering threats-cause death or bodily harm

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on December 15, 2022.
