Sudden death investigation leads to warrant execution, arrest: Peterborough Police

A 27-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges in connection with a sudden overdose death that happened in October 2022.

In October 2022, officers responded to the sudden death call and through investigation determined who the person was supplying the drugs.

As a result, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, officers with Investigative Services and the Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a Peterborough residence.  During the search officers located a loaded handgun, drugs, and cash.  

27-year-old Jameel Jackson of Peterborough was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Trafficking in schedule I substance – Fentanyl
  • Possession of schedule I substance for purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, January 25, 2023.

Peterborough Police are releasing the name of the accused in this case as a matter of public safety.
