On Wednesday January 25th 2023 Port Hope Police Service responded to a vehicle fire and possible abduction of a male within the Municipality of Port Hope.

In the early morning hours, around 12:30 a.m., members of the Port Hope Fire Department, assisted by Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police, responded to a vehicle fire on Hamilton Road, north of the 401.

Upon leaving the scene, members of the Port Hope Fire Department located a lone male on the shoulder of Telephone Road. This male advised fire that he had been abducted earlier in the evening and forced into a vehicle. The male told fire he fled from this vehicle in the area of Hamilton Road, North.

Port Hope Fire notified the OPP of this who learned when speaking with him he had been abducted and forced into the vehicle at knife point within the Town of Port Hope. This male was transported to Northumberland Hills Hospital by paramedics. The Ontario Provincial Police then notified the Port Hope Police Service who have now taken carriage of this investigation.

 Members of the Port Hope Police Services Criminal Investigative Bureau believe the abduction took place sometime between 11pm on January 24th – the early morning hours of January 25th  

 Below is an image of a Toyota Matrix believed to be similar in appearance to the stolen vehicle used in this abduction. 

Police are asking the assistance from the public to help them in this investigation. Investigators are requesting anyone who has captured this vehicle on home security cameras during the above hours to contact the Port Hope Police Service.
